Sensory Intermediate is ideal for coffee professionals looking to deepen and formalize their sensory skills.

Learn the skills you need to access and evaluate coffee to Speciality Coffee Association Standards. On this course you will learn:

  • The physiology of taste and aroma.
  • Types of sensory analysis tests.
  • How to operate a cupping session.
  • Using the SCA Flavour Wheel and WCR Sensory Lexicon.
  • Implementing sensory analysis.

A written exam tests intermediate course knowledge while a practical exam assesses the learner’s ability to identify basic differences in coffee attributes and recall fragrance identification.

A student enrollment fee of £50 must be paid directly to the SCA prior to attending the course. For SCA course students will need a SCA account and a SCA leaner number. If you’re not already registered with the SCA, you can register as a learner for free here.

With successful completion of the course you will receive a Certificate from the SCA and gain 10 points towards your SCA diploma.

Two Day Course – 10AM – 4PM each day (6 hours)
