Heart & Graft first came to life in Salford, roasting in the co-op studios of Artwork Atelier alongside artists and makers. Our beautiful gold-and-brass Giesen W15A was the heart of that early space. But as we grew, it became clear we needed more room, much more.

We moved to Newton Heath, Manchester, into an old mill packed with a century’s worth of bakery equipment. After clearing it out and bringing the building back to life, the wooden beams and brick walls finally had room to sing, ready for a roastery to call it home.

With the extra space came our second roaster: a Giesen W30. Both machines were resprayed in our classic Heart & Graft purple, quickly becoming known as Big Purp and Little Purp. We expanded our logistics, and built a dedicated training room where Kieron could deliver SCA-accredited courses to our wholesale partners and retail customers.

In 2025, we turned the page to the next chapter of our story: Cheetham Hill. We wanted to open ourselves up to the people of Manchester, to create a welcoming, accessible space for events, workshops, and everything in between. To make that happen, we needed somewhere more central, more connected. Cheetham Hill, with its vibrant, ever-growing community, was the perfect fit.
